REGIONAL LIGHTING MANAGER, EASTERN U.S.

Our client (an award-winning, progressive global manufacturer with great stability) is looking for a dynamic, proactive, flexible and high-energy Regional Lighting Manager for the Eastern U.S. who is on the fast track!

You will use your experience with architectural lighting, LED fixtures and/or controls as you work with sales reps and act as the ‘go-to’ lighting expert; you’ll do some ongoing lighting training of your colleagues as well. You will make joint calls to commercial corporate accounts, large commercial office space, architects and interior design firms. Experience with the hospitality channel (hotels, restaurants) is a real plus.

Our ideal candidate is currently a Regional Manager, National Accounts Manager, Business Development Manager and/or possibly a sales representative looking to make the next step in her/his career. A strong product manager or lighting designer with sales aptitude/experience will also be considered. Experience calling on architects and interior design firms is a real plus. Our ideal candidate also is very hungry, open-minded, a risk-taker and able and willing to bring new ideas to the table and is someone very comfortable with a sales-driven culture! Our client is by far the market leader in one of their key niches and offers tremendous opportunities for advancement. Active IES membership is a big plus. Degree preferred but not essential; 60% travel; the first 6 months will be higher.

AREA SALES MANAGER, NORTHEAST

Our client [a well-respected manufacturer with whom we’ve placed people before] is looking for a very positive, enthusiastic, energetic and polished Area Sales Manager to cover the Northeast U.S. working with rep agents, architects and lighting designers!

You will make joint calls with your rep agencies on architects and lighting designers helping to build brand recognition throughout the Northeast, training your reps and making recommendations for rep changes when needed.

Our ideal candidate is currently a sales representative or Regional Manager with an architectural lighting rep agency or manufacturer and in the Boston, New Jersey, D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania, Illinois or Ohio (area) and is able to work very independently. Our client [who has a globally-patented, cutting-edge technology and good momentum] is looking for a goal-oriented, open-minded and diplomatic Vice President of Sales and Marketing who has integrity, is loyal and a self-starter!

You will use your sales (or marketing) experience with lamps/bulbs, dimmers/controls, residential LEDs and/or CFLs as you develop our client’s sales and marketing strategy to the consumer retail channel (Target, Home Depot, Lowes, Wal-Mart, etc.), as you navigate the nuances of getting our client into the U.S. retail channel! Our client (a financially solid lighting manufacturer) is looking for a results-oriented, self-confident and outspoken National Sales Manager who is a go-getter that does not take ‘no’ for an answer!

You will use your LED, outdoor lighting fixture and/or controls experience selling to the municipality channel, utilities, engineering firms (who focus on the governmental channel) and landscape architects as you coach your Regional Management team and identify holes in product lines and make recommendations, review the pricing structure and make joint calls with your rep agencies. You will also continue to develop the territory, review pricing structures and provide recommendations, hire new agencies and review your existing reps.

Our ideal candidate could be a Regional Sales Manager, a National Sales Manager or possibly a Government Sales Manager who focuses primarily on the municipality channel. Our ideal candidate also has entrepreneurial drive, a very likeable personality, is good at entertaining customers and is currently located in Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, or Newark. Our client has no turnover, no politics, no ceiling on incentive, is financially solid and they need a hands-on, entrepreneurial sales professional. You will use your experience to run the operations function of this custom lighting manufacturer and assist in building a stronger infrastructure. Our client is experiencing rapid growth and is looking for a hands-on Director of Engineering who has a sense of urgency that can handle a lot of latitude and “outside of the box” type projects and is willing to discuss problems openly!

You will use your experience to design, layout and construct switch mode converters (both A/C to D/C & D/C to D/C) as well as multi-layer circuit boards for LED lighting applications. You will also use your experience to write assembly and/or C code for programming controllers and oversee the growth and development of the engineering department.

Our ideal candidate could be a Director of Engineering, Engineering Manager, Senior Engineer or Chief Engineer coming from a LED lighting or semiconductor company. He/she should also have knowledge of UL and FCC processes and should be comfortable interfacing with customers and the sales team in order to help develop product the market wants. Our client (with whom we’ve placed several lighting professionals) is looking for a creative, resourceful, competitive and very hands-on Director of New Product (who is excited by innovation) to develop new products and their technology roadmap!

You will utilize your experience having created something different and profound as you work with the President developing new products and then hand them over to our client’s technical engineers. You should truly know where LEDs are going---all the design issues, what’s coming down the pike, etc.  You also should have a group of people/vendors to go to for resource help, design and supply and must be able to bring an entire supply chain with you!  Listening to what our agents have to say is a key skill in order to develop solutions.

Our ideal candidate currently is a New Product Development Manager, Director of New Product, Product Development Engineer, New Product Innovation Engineer or Director of R&D and knows the technology, the vendors and the core tenants of the design technology.  You must enjoy competing with the big guys (by not meeting them head on) and figuring out ways to go into the marketplace a little differently.  You should not have a ‘me-too’ philosophy!  A strong, deep LED background is essential for this role.  Management experience is definitely a plus; degree preferred but not critical; less than 20% travel.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Our client (a rapidly growing and expanding design firm with interesting projects) is looking for a multi-talented electrical engineer who is knowledgeable in the area of lighting controls to work with the Lighting Design Studio on projects.

You will use your engineering background as you design lighting control systems to meet specifications, document your work and work closely with construction to ensure correct installation.  Our client's work consists of K-12 projects, the sports market, restoration market and small to large indoor and outdoor lighting projects.  Plus, our client has very little turnover!

Our ideal candidate is currently an Electrical Engineer with an architectural design firm with hands on experience with lighting controls working gin the lighting design group but an applications engineer, or specifications person with an engineering background, working with a manufacturer of controls would be considered.  Experience doing mockups for power distribution, fire alarm layouts, safety and communications systems, circuiting and lighting systems would be a major plus.  BSEE highly preferred.

Our client (with whom we've placed people before) is looking for a self-motivated, well-organized and hungry Western Regional Sales Manager who has a good sense of humor and is able to work very independently!

You will use your experience as a Regional, National or District Manager and you network between specifiers, contractors and rep agents while getting familiar with your agents' key electrical distributors.  You will also utilize your strong knowledge in HID, fluorescent and/or LED lighting fixtures or controls as you provide sales training in the field to bring on new lighting agents in certain states, making joint calls with your agents or specifiers and distributors/contractors and reviewing your agent's performance and recommending changes when needed.

Our ideal candidate is currently a Regional Sales Manager or a District Sales manager based out of Southern California, Arizona, Las Vegas or Northern California (or possibly Denver) and has experience working with specification agencies.  Our ideal candidate also should have strong controls or (HID, fluorescent and/or lED) fixture knowledge, possess a good personality, be very decisive, reliable and have a very professional image.  Our client is very good at forecasting and has a lot going on but still allows their team to mold and shape their own territory with little bureaucracy!  Degree highly preferred but not critical; travel 35-40% (heavier the first 12-18 months).

Our client (a very well-respected manufacturer with whom we have placed several people) is looking for a technically astute, self-directed, motivated and diligent Channel Manager as you capitalize on your business relationships with specifiers, engineers, architects and lighting designers.

You will use your strong negotiating and relationship-building skills, your talent for working with others and your ability to bring things to fruition as you investigate the local market and identify customers that our client should be calling on (architects, energy contractors, specifiers, targeted end users and engineers).  You must have the contacts that will get our client through the doors with industrial end users, big box retail and/or architects/engineers.

Our ideal candidate is currently a Sales Manager, Technical Sales Representative, Sales Representative, Product Manager or an Engineer (with a firm or manufacturer) who lives within the Toronto (or Hamilton) area and is with a manufacturer or rep agency dealing with fixtures, lamps, ballasts and/or specification grade lighting, or a design/engineering firm.  You must know the Toronto/Hamilton market very well, be hard-working, strategic, diligent, sensitive towards others and should have good relationships with architects, engineering and lighting design firms.  Our client has a very entrepreneurial culture and this position offers a lot of room for growth.  If you 'live and die by the sword' then you can really write your own ticket!  Technical degree/certificate preferred but not critical; local travel only, no overnight travel.
